Hello! We are the Harvard Undergraduate Black Health Advocates.

The Harvard Undergraduate Black Health Advocates is a Harvard student-run organization dedicated to exploring how past and present sociopolitical climates have impacted the health of Black communities. Our organization began in 2016 with the inaugural Harvard College Black Health Matters Conference, with the goal to bring together attendees and speakers representing an array of universities, studies, careers, and localities, to discuss interdisciplinary approaches to tackling questions surrounding Black health disparities.

As an organization, we hope to tackle issues in Black health through an interdisciplinary lens that leverages research not only in medicine, but also in law, tech, economics, sociology, epidemiology, clinical psychology, business, and health policy, primarily through opening and facilitating conversation and curating developmental opportunities.

OUR CONFERENCE GOAL

The Black Health Matters Conference aims to bring together curious students and scholar speakers from across the country to explore how past and present sociopolitical climates have impacted the health of Black communities.

We hope to analyze the health disparities faced by shedding light on specific issues: the social stigma surrounding mental health, the effects of healthcare policy, how current health practices can be detrimental to the black community etc. to ultimately facilitate the needed conversation about how we can help as a result.

Using our platform, we aim to spread knowledge about these issues in panels, lectures, and workshops in hopes to bring about awareness, and thus, change.
